THE LIVING BREATHING BODY

The most wonderful thing about being a living breathing body is that we have the ability to re-build, repair and adapt to the environment around and within us. How exciting. As children we moved, played and expressed with ease; fueled with a natural curiosity uninhibited by stress and restriction.

As we grow to maturity our bodies are introduced to internal and external stressors. These stressors can be physical, emotional or psychological. Each time our well-equipped body adapts and shifts into new positions to continue to perform its expected task. It is no wonder that lengthy hours of sitting at desks, performing the same action repetitively and carrying out activities that are not fulfilling or do not align with our own expression takes its toll. Gradually over time that natural sense of balance and alignment is lost and restriction dominates.

Not to worry there is hope. Inside each and everyone of us there is an innate yearning to ‘be well’. It is this need and ability to heal that allows us to undo and adapt back to that original natural state of ease. We are living breathing organisms full energy and in a constant state of change where healing is inevitable. Thank goodness.

RESTORING EASE

My approach is to help clients experience a body that is strong, supple and connected. Treatments provide an environment that is soothing and nurturing, understanding that there are many components involved in healing, stress release being a main one.

The goal is to quiet and restore the nervous system and undo restrictions in the muscles and joints.

A treatment where the whole of the person is addressed, body, mind and spirit.

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

A gentle hands-on practice that works with the body’s innate self-correcting ability. Restoring the nervous system to decrease pain and regain mobility for all ages children included.

Treatments focus on the restrictions found deep within the body (for example structures within the spinal cord and tissue found in the abdomen).

This technique is a great way of addressing the source of discomfort; be it physical, emotional or psychological. Craniosacral work can be the missing link to heal chronic issues.

Indications for treatment are: chronic pain syndrome, headaches and migraines, physical trauma (old and new) as well as emotional and psychological, depression and anxiety, body discomfort and pain.

MEET THE THERAPIST

Jasmin McGraw has created a clinical practice that goes beyond the tissue. After graduating from the Canadian College of Health Science and Technology in 2010, she began studying CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute in 2011. She continues to study within this umbrella and is now an Upledger Teaching Assistant. As a graduate of the School of Toronto Dance Theatre in 2005, her professional dance career gives her a practical understanding of injury prevention and recovery, and body conditioning and training.

Jasmin has a wonderful practice at her two locations in the bustling town of LaSalle and the quaint farm town of Comber.
Treating these communities has been a huge blessing in her life. Having the ability to support and hold space for her clients to unwind and unpack what no longer serves is an honour.
Thank you.

INFANT TREATMENT

Gentle hands-on treatment where restrictions are assessed and released that may be contributing to baby’s discomfort. The ideal age is between Newborn-5-7 months of age.

Treatments are rooted in Craniosacral Therapy. Babies are treated through their clothes. Generally babies feel relaxed during techniques and often fall asleep.

Indications for treatment are: difficulties latching, colic (overly fussy and excessive crying), traumatic birth, flat skull, unable to sleep soundly, any fall or injury.

Treatment for increased irritability and general well-being, 5 weeks old

The birth process is an epic journey for our little loves and often can leave baby with unneeded stress and restrictions. A treatment can help unwind restrictions and restore ease in your baby’s tissue and nervous system.

If you and your baby are struggling with breastfeeding, this is a gentle way to improve baby’s latch and sucking reflex. Head control and neck, spine and pelvic mobility is addressed and treated. There is often a connection between tissue pliability and baby’s ability to feed on both breasts and their digestion.

Other reasons for treatment are colic (overly fussy baby), difficulty sleeping, and any fall or injury.
